Today, Ellie is 2 weeks old. Where have the last 2 weeks gone. People would tell me all the time and still do tell me that time will pass before your eyes and that the first couple of weeks/months are not the easiest but enjoy them because you will one day miss them. I have caught myself at 4am lately, being completely exhausted from not enough sleep, trying to breastfeed and as much as I want to just put her back to bed and go to sleep, instead, I have just looked at her and tried to enjoy our time together while Adam is sleeping. Just me and her looking at each other.
A few things that have drastically changed the last few weeks for Adam and I that people talked about, but I never really believed until we became parents....
1. Not eating lunch until 5 pm in the afternoon and not eating dinner until 10pm.
2. Not getting a shower until 6pm in the evening and when the time does come for you to take a shower, you literally rush through it.
3. Feeling like you have done nothing the whole day, but yet you wonder where the day has gone.
4. Everything is scheduled around 3 hour increments for feeding
5. Taking 30 minutes to get out of the house at times to run an errand.
6. Wondering how a little squirt can go through so many diapers in one day!!
7. Realizing that it is much easier to just eat in then go out.
8. Being so in love with something that it hurts at times.
9. Being excited when you get to sleep a full 2 hours.
10. The baby is dressed, yet you are still in your pajamas with spit up on the shoulder.
**In other big news, Ellie's umbilical cord stump came off early this morning, so we get to give baby girl a bath tomorrow evening. Can't wait to pull out the Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo.
